Galajda Péter 1997-ben szerzett kitüntetéses oklevelet a Szegedi Tudományegyetemen (akkori József Attila Tudományegyetem) fizikus szakon. 2003-ban “summa cum laude” minisítéssel doktori fokozatot szerzett a Szegedi Tudományegyetem fizika programjának biofizika alprogramjában. Doktori kutatásait a Szegedi Biológiai Központ Biofizikai Intézetében végezte, ahol részt vett az optikai mikromanipuláción alapuló új technológiák és kutatási irányok intézeti meghonosításában. 2004. januárjától kezdidien Posztdoktori kutatásait a Princeton Egyetemen, a Harvard Egyetemen és a Delft Műszaki Egyetemen végezte. Jelenleg Hollandiában, a Delft Mőszaki Egyetem Kavli Nanotudományok Intézete Bionanotudományok Tanszékén dolgozik.
