A Világmindenség sugárzó - számunkra közvetlenül megfigyelhető - anyagának legnagyobb része csillagok formáját ölti. Ezek túlnyomó többsége a legjobb teleszkópokban is csak halovány fénypont. Egyiküket, a Napot, szinte karnyújtásnyi közelségből, premier plánban tanulmányozhatjuk.
The largest part of the radiating - and therefore, for us, directly observable - matter in the Universe takes the form of stars. Even when using the best telescopes, the majority of these stars appear only as dim spots of light. Therefore, we are very fortunate to have a star almost within arm's reach for us to study: the Sun. The Sun allows us to observe the processes that also take place on much more distant celestial bodies. As such, the Sun opens a gate to the human intellect: on the one hand, toward distant places and different aeons, and on the other hand, toward a better understanding of the principles of physics that can also be put to use on Earth. The aim of this lecture is to introduce the immense diversity of the forms of behavior that the magnetised plasma constituting the Sun - and at the same time the majority of the visible Universe - can take.
Az I. világháborúban megjelent új, korszerű fegyvernem, a légierő viharos fejlődésének döntő hatású elméleti megalapozása Giulio Douhet olasz tábornok "Légiuralom-elmélet" című munkájához köthető. A 30-as évekre "megszelídített" nézetek megalapozták az 1939-től önálló haderőnemként működő Magyar Királyi Honvéd Légierőt.
Aviation, and military aviation in particular, is a very popular subject. However, few know the components of the dynamic development of air forces which were a modern type of service emerging in World War I. Likewise, hardly any people have ever heard of the rather extreme theory - 'the command of the air' - which served as a theoretical background for this development, and its creator, the extravagant Italian general, Giulio Douhet. His theory also influenced Hungarian military circles, which initially considered it an excellent tool in our revisionist efforts, later as a tool to improve our air defence. In the disputes taking place in the '30s military experts softened these views, and laid the foundation of the Royal Hungarian Air Force, which began to function as an independent service in 1939. The lecture explains the basic interrelations between the theory, aviation technology and the organisational development in the period in question. It also raises the question whether giving theoretical education high priority in today's Hungarian Army as well should be considered.

In the age of information we provide, receive, exchange and require information all the time. The speed of information flow has reached a level we have never seen before. According to the prevailing view in psychology, we see the world as a result of the mechanisms dealing with information processing in our brains. Besides supporting the adjustment of postures and the ancient functions of defence, escape and obtaining food, human vision is also an efficient tool for exploring the world around us. As such, it is connected with language and all information gained by the individual - practically all forms of knowledge. Although knowledge certainly plays a role in vision, the effect of the acquisition or the knowledge itself on perception is neither conscious, nor intentional. In the case of the human brain the cortex regions responsible for vision remain able to learn for a long time, thus allowing permanent gathering of knowledge. It also means that there are huge differences between the "perceptual worlds" of different age groups.
